Our success depends on ensuring you have 100% trust in the safety and security of the marketplace. That’s why we have set up three safeguards to protect you and your property:

User Safety

Registered users of our site are required to confirm their identity via email and phone accounts. All messages are sent through the site securely to ensure your personal details are always confidential.

Public Liability & Property Insurance

Spacer, on behalf of its Users has in place liability and property cover up to $2m to cover unforeseen events.

Personal Property Cover

Spacer provides you with cover for any losses due to theft or damage to your property up to $10,000.

Confidence in our Members

All Hosts and Renters provide email and phone details upon signing up which can be verified against social media and credit agencies. Users provide detailed profiles and information about their space or goods to be stored, as well as reviews from previous transactions. We always recommend that you view ID from any Renter prior to them storing their items in your space.

Confidence in our Payments

Renters pay by credit card for the storage of their goods through our site using the Merchant Warrior Payment Gateway. Merchant Warrior uses the very latest in 256-bit SSL security & is 100% PCI compliant, for your peace of mind.

We guarantee the first rental payment to the Host once the booking begins (unless an issue prevents the booking going ahead), with recurring monthly payments for the duration of the agreement.

Confidence in your Property

Spacer, on behalf of its Users has in place public and product liability cover up to $10m to cover accident or injury to 3rd parties as a result of your transaction.

Furthermore, for your complete peace of mind, Spacer’s has arranged an insurance policy with IAG ShareCover, Australia’s largest general insurer to provide you with cover for theft or damage to your goods or property for up to $10,000*

How the Insurance works:

Our Insurance acts as a safety net for our members. If, in a transaction facilitated via our website, you are faced with any losses or damages through no fault of your own and are not able to receive compensation from the liable party or from any insurance or other scheme, you can make a claim to us. Some example claims might include:

  • Your goods are damaged by water / flood effects and the Host’s insurance does not cover it
  • Your goods are misappropriated or misused and damaged
  • A Renter fails to remove stored goods at the conclusion of an agreement, resulting in removal costs to clear the space

The maximum aggregate claim for any rental agreement is $10,000 and is subject to the terms and conditions of our Insurance Policy with IAG ShareCover.

As a Renter, we require you to list the items that you intend to store when making a booking, and keep photographic records as the basis for any claim. We strongly recommend that you also advise the Host of the items you intend to store for their peace of mind.

If you need to make a claim, please contact us within 7 days of any incident taking place and make sure that all crime is reported to the police within 48 hours. For more information please see our terms and conditions. We will quickly assess the situation and help you recover any losses incurred. The policy operates as a safety net provision in the event of a no-fault scenario and in which primary insurances are not available.

Confidence in the Stored Goods

As a Host, you set the access, terms and conditions of rental. Our terms and conditions clearly outline any dangerous goods and items which must not be stored in any space including:

  • Toxic, polluted or contaminated goods
  • Firearms, munitions, weapons or explosives
  • Radioactive materials; highly flammable or hazardous goods
  • Living plants or animals; food or perishable goods
  • Anything damp, mouldy, rotten or infested with or damaged by parasites
  • Any item which emits any fumes or strong odour
  • Cash and securities
  • Illegal goods
  • Waste

If, as a Host you ever feel uncomfortable either with the Renter or with the goods being stored, we strongly recommend that you immediately contact Spacer, and we will arrange cancellation and removal of the goods on your behalf.
