Aussies no longer need to succumb to “pier pressure” when it comes to storing their boats

  • There are 204,000 registered boat trailers in NSW, with many left idle on street curbs outside houses for 3+ month periods. Research (Transport for NSW Report March 2013) has indicated that 70% of these vehicles are stored outside residents’ own houses, causing congestion and severe parking shortages particularly around the harbour entry points.
  • Removing the boat trailers from the street is a controversial community issue, with the vast majority of constituents supporting laws which either ban or limit on street parking for such vehicles. It is now over three months since NSW Government passed legislation empowering local councils to impound boat trailers which parked long term for over 3 months.
  • Alternatives for boat storage are scarce, with on water mooring costs expensive and dry storage facilities hard to get into, expensive and hard to access.

Benchmark of mooring and dry storage costs

Horizon shores – Dry Storage- from $249 per month for a 20ft boat on a one year term

Double Bay Marina - Mooring – 26 ft - $1250 per month

Sydney Boat House - from $595 per month for a boat of 6m in length or less

Spacer provides a natural and efficient solution by utilising the storage space of those around us.
