Public Transport

Public transport in Victoria (PTV) caters to every student and staff member of Deakin University. It is the best way to explore the whole of Victoria, whether you want to go shopping, sightseeing, or rushing to go to school. PTV is your best option if you do not have your car. You may also be eligible for a Travel Concession to avail of discounted fares.

Trains

Riding a train or a tram is also a great option when travelling across the suburbs of Melbourne, in Geelong and Warrnambool, as well as in other areas near the campuses. While it is easy to go around via the train or tram and buses, it will also be good to know your way around the city by walking around it or using a bicycle. This will make your travel options more flexible and convenient.

Buses

Students and staff members may ride the bus to go around Melbourne and other neighbouring regions such as Geelong and Warrnambool. You will need to purchase a Myki prepaid card to use for most of Victoria’s public transports, as this is their mode of payment; but if you are taking the Warrnambool local buses, you only need to purchase the paper ticket on the bus or the stations. Students and staff may also ride the Deakin Bus Service for free travel between the two campuses in Geelong.

On-Campus and Off-Campus Parking

There is nothing like the convenience of travelling in your own car. You can go around anywhere you want any time you want, so long as you know your way around. Just like any other university, students and staff members may park at the designated Deakin University parking zones, but they are required to secure parking permits. They cost from $137.50 for four months of validity to $880 for a one-year validity. However, purchasing permits does not entitle you to your own parking space as there are limited parking spaces on the premises. Other parking options are also available outside the campuses. They include the pay-as-you-go parking spaces where you only pay for the time you consume while parked.
