Public Transport

Trains

Canberra is blessed with a direct rail from Sydney. When going to Canberra, the train passes by Goulburn, Southern Highlands and Bungendore from the Sydney Central Station. When using this route, travel time takes 4.5 hours.

If you’re coming from Melbourne, there are no train services to Canberra. You must take the bus to reach Canberra after you board from Bairnsdale, Cootamundra, or Wodonga.

Buses

The bus is the best form of public transport if you are travelling within Canberra. ACTION is a local bus company that operates services within the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). The bus service operates from Monday to Friday at 30 minute intervals. However, their services are not available beyond midnight until six am from Mondays to Saturdays. It also doesn’t operate after seven pm on Sundays and public holidays. There are bus operations from Canberra to South Coast, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Snowy Mountains and Adelaide.

On-Campus and Off-Campus Parking

Gungahlin College Precinct, Bruce Campus, Woden Campus and Fyshwick Campus offer limited free parking to students in these campuses and the library. Since the student population is more than 20,000 every year, such spaces may not be adequate for all the students. ACT also owns car parks in the Reid Campus and the Tuggeranong library. This is paid parking and has limited spaces, which are filled almost immediately — even before the term starts. Long stay pre-paid parking tickets are offered at the Territory and Municipal Services website.

CIT is a great institution with lots of options to study and a diverse culture to be part of. Local and international students choose this as their home for continual learning, since this is the largest technical and vocational education provider in ACT.
