The Melbourne International Comedy Festival has been running for 31 years this year and is one of the largest comedy festivals in the world. The Festival runs for 3 and a half weeks from the 29th of March through to the 23rd of April. There’s hundreds of shows held throughout the festival which means there is something for everyone to laugh at.
This massive festival is in its 25th year and runs throughout the duration of March with over 300 events throughout Victoria. Thousands of food and wine lovers attend restaurants, rooftop and basement bars as well as pop up stores and bustling food markets.

This is for the fitness folk. On the 30th of July thousands of people will head to Federation Square to run in either a 5km, 10km or a half-marathon. There is a registration fee which will go towards the charity of your choice. Over the last 10 years the event has raised more than $12 million for 400 charities. This is a huge event, which will allow you to take in all of Melbourne’s iconic landmarks whilst getting in some exercise.
This year sees the tenth Annual Melbourne Magic Festival which will run every day from the 3rd of July through to the 15th. This is another huge festival and it’s growing every year with over 300 performances of 65 different shows from both Australian and International guests.
6. Oz Comic-Con
Unleash your inner nerd, gather your comic books, and get your capes out as OZ Comic-Con returns to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre over the 1st and 2nd of July. Feast your eyes on countless exhibitions, witness marvellous costumes and meet stars from the industry. Tickets come at a range of prices so visit the website for all the relevant information.
Head to a round of the AFL at Melbourne’s home ground, the Melbourne Cricket Ground! AFL is one of Australia’s most popular spectator sports. Its fast paced and exciting, with hard hits and big kicks. AFL is massively popular in Melbourne so any game of the season is set to be huge!
